Reducing risks and keeping you safe on the road

Here are our top 10 driver safety tips:

  • Always plan and leave enough time for the journey
  • Allow yourself a moment to relax before you start the ignition
  • Make sure that everyone is wearing their seatbelt
  • Keep enough distance between you and the car in front while stationary i.e. so you can see the road behind your bonnet and the tyres of the car in front
  • Be aware of your blind spot, especially when joining fast-moving traffic or overtaking
  • Keep distractions such as smoking, talking and changing radio channels while driving, to a minimum
  • Be ready to give up your right of way if other drivers have misjudged a situation
  • Continually scan the environment around you; try to anticipate potential danger before it happens
  • Keep at least a two second gap between you and the car in front while moving
