Alphabet partner with Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce for new Clean Air Zone breakfast briefing in November
Alphabet (GB) Limited, one of the UK’s leading fleet leasing and business mobility experts, in partnership with the Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce (GBCC) are set to co-host a breakfast briefing on the new Clean Air Zone and the impact it will have on local companies when it is introduced from January 2020. The event, which is free of charge to businesses of all sizes that operate vehicles in the Birmingham area, will be held in the Library of Birmingham at 8.00am on Thursday 29 November.
‘Keeping Birmingham’s businesses moving in the new Clean Air Zone (CAZ)’ will examine the substance of the new regulations and the penalties of non-compliance with CAZ standards, while advising vehicle fleet operators about the preparations they need to make ahead of 2020.
The breakfast briefing will feature representation from Birmingham City Council, with Councillor Waseem Zaffar MBE, Cabinet Member for Transport and Environment, as well as industry experts and business leaders including Paul Faulkner, CEO of the Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce (GBCC), Simon Carr, Chief Commercial Officer for Alphabet (GB) Limited and Tim Anderson from the Energy Saving Trust.
Simon Carr, Chief Commercial Officer of Alphabet (GB) Limited, said: “Birmingham is one of the five Clean Air Zones around the UK and the Second City’s plans are the most comprehensive, detailed and advanced in the country. Significant changes are coming in little more than a year which will undoubtedly improve Birmingham’s air quality but research shows that 40% of local companies are still unaware of the changes and the impact new CAZ regulations hold for their business.
As one of the UK’s leading providers of ultra-low emission and electric vehicles, we’re keen to share our expertise to help fleet operators to understand and navigate the change ahead of the introduction of the new Clean Air Zone. We are delighted to partner with the GBCC in this open, knowledge-sharing event in the iconic surroundings of the new Library of Birmingham and look forward to welcoming local companies on Thursday 29 November.”
Places at the event are free of charge to businesses in and around the Birmingham area but space is limited.
