Why a sustainable fleet is so important

New regulations and requirements

The EU’s Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) has made CO₂ reporting mandatory for many companies. Fleet emissions, whether from combustion or electric vehicles, must be tracked transparently. A proactive strategy ensures compliance and flexibility.

Decarbonisation needs a strategy

More and more businesses are setting CO₂ reduction targets – and that often includes their fleets. But cutting emissions shouldn’t mean adding complexity. We can offer smart data-driven decisions that help balance sustainability with operational efficiency.

Lower emissions, lower costs

A sustainable fleet isn’t just better for the environment, it also saves money. Reduced fuel consumption, lower maintenance costs and optimised vehicle usage add up to long-term financial and ecological benefits

Keeping track of your fleet’s emissions over the year is simpler than it sounds when you have the right setup.

Our tool, Alphabet Carbon Manager, tracks, monitors and helps reduce your entire fleet’s CO₂ emissions. This online platform automates ESG reporting and in-depth analysis to help reach your decarbonisation objectives with tailored guidance. Here’s what it can deliver continuously:

1. Your fleet’s carbon footprint in real time: Up-to-date figures and vehicle-level data, including all relevant emissions categories, give a clear overview of your fleet’s CO₂ performance. Find out where you stand today and what’s driving your footprint.

2. Set targets and monitor progress: Define CO₂ objectives that match your business ambitions. Whether it’s regulatory compliance, internal ESG targets or net zero, you can track where you are and what to do to meet targets.

3. Get automated reports that meet GHG Protocol: Save time and meet reporting requirements with ready-to-use ESG summaries. The platform generates CO₂ data usable for internal reviews, sustainability reporting or regulatory submissions.

4. Take action with data-based recommendations: The tool doesn’t just visualise your footprint, it’ll help reduce it. Based on your data, it will suggest practical action such as electrification, fleet sizing or policy adjustments.

The Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) is a European Union (EU) regulation that requires companies to report on their environmental and social impact.

According to the CSRD, enterprises will now be required to report more comprehensively and according to more uniform standards – both on the impact of their business operations on people and the environment, and on the impact of sustainability aspects on their enterprise. External auditing of the reporting results will be mandatory.

The CSRD took effect in January 2023. The first reports are, depending on the company, to be disclosed starting on January 1st, 2024.

  • Starting in 2024: Public-interest entities with a staff of more than 500
  • Starting in 2025: All other enterprises classified as large-scale under accounting law (>250 employees, total assets of >20 m Euros; reported sales of >40 m Euros)
  • Starting in 2026: Expansion of the reporting requirements to capital market-oriented SMEs
