Mobility Budget

A transparent solution for all types of mobility needs

One transparent budget

Flexible mobility options

Since March 1st 2019, companies can offer employees who are entitled to a company car a mobility budget. The government is hoping to reach several objectives with this mobility budget. On the one hand, they want to limit road congestions by offering commuters other options than their cars, and on the other hand, it should promote alternative and more eco-friendly forms of mobility. Without driving up the cost for companies or employees.

As an employer, you can decide to introduce the mobility budget in your business. Employees can then exchange their company cars for a wide range of mobility solutions.

The 3 pillars of the mobility budget

Pillar 1 - An environmentally friendly company car

Choose a car that meets strict ecological criteria: an all-electric car or a car with low CO₂ emissions (max. 95 g/km). The tax and social treatment is identical to that of a traditional company car. Ideal for those who still need a car but want to contribute to a greener future.

Pillar 2 - Sustainable means of transport and housing costs

Invest your budget in alternative means of transport or your home. - Soft mobility: (electric) bike, scooter, monowheel... including purchase, rental, leasing, maintenance and insurance - Public transport & sharing solutions: train, bus, tram, metro, taxis, shared cars and bikes within the European Economic Area - Housing costs: rental or mortgage loan if you live within 10 km of work or telecommute more than 50% 100% exempt from taxes and NSSO

Pillar 3 - Cash

Are you not spending the entire budget on pillar 1 or 2? Then the balance will be paid annually. Payment is made together with the following year’s January salary and is reduced by a solidarity contribution of 38.07%. Flexibility for workers who prefer extra salary.

Podcast - Mobility budget for companies

With the publication of the coalition agreement and the popularity it has gained in recent years, the Mobility Budget has become an indispensable part of the mobility solutions that a company can offer its employees.

But what exactly does the Mobility Budget entail? And how do you implement it as a company?

Our colleague Andi Demunter and Thierry Devresse, Managing Director of MMBB (My Mobility Budget Butler), explain this topic in this podcast.
