- The fleet will be managed through AlphaCity, Alphabet’s Corporate CarSharing solution, that allows for simple online vehicle booking, as well as keyless access, that can be made available to all employees selected by the company.

Madrid, 13 February 2019.  Alphabet, one of the leading providers of Business Mobility, has delivered 76 vehicles fitted with AlphaCity technology to Leroy Merlin. With AlphaCity, companies can offer their employees a shared-use fleet for travel, allowing them to reserve vehicles conveniently through a website or app and access them without a key. The service enables companies to increase efficiency and demonstrate a commitment to sustainability, whilst meeting their specific mobility needs. With features such as pay-per-kilometre, companies can also save on costs. AlphaCity represents efficiency in both waiting and travel times, since employees have the vehicles at their disposal, be that at the workplace or designated locations.

The French multinational specialising in DIY, construction, home decoration and gardening has acquired a fleet of 76 Renault Clio Sport Tourer vehicles, to be distributed across the country, where each of company’s stores will have at least one of the AlphaCity fitted vehicles. These vehicles will allow for the delivery of the new home technical assistance service that Leroy Merlin has recently implemented in Spain, giving the multinational an innovative and sustainable corporate image.

The delivery of this fleet took place at a ceremony held in the headquarters of Alphabet Spain in Las Rozas, Madrid, attended by representatives of the companies involved (Leroy Merlin, Alphabet and Renault). The CEO of Alphabet International, Norbert Van den Eijnden, was also present, saying: “AlphaCity was an initiative by Alphabet that was intended to provide a complementary solution to traditional leasing agreements for the management of the corporate mobility of our customers. This agreement with Leroy Merlin is a confirmation that we are right.”

Rocío Carrascosa, CEO of Alphabet Spain, added: “We are very proud to have reached this shared mobility agreement with our client Leroy Merlin. Contributing to the improvement of the corporate mobility of a multinational at this level, reinforces our commitment to providing a comprehensive mobility strategy that goes beyond traditional fleet management. In this process, our customer focus is key, since we accompany them and provide advice at every step of the way, in order to create a supply that will meet their specific needs. This results not only in cost savings for the company, but also in more sustainable management of its mobility, given that with the implementation of AlphaCity the use of vehicles that make up that fleet is fully optimised, simplifying the administration of associated costs.”

For Leroy Merlin, opting for the Corporate CarSharing AlphaCity was due to the possibility of accessing shared and efficient corporate mobility. “Alphabet is the company that embodies the main values that we seek in a partner, with several aspects worth mentioning. On the one hand, the monthly fee is essential, but so is the post service, the service organisation chart and the user service, a powerful maxim for Leroy Merlin,” the company highlights.

Emilio Ruiz-Roso, Director of HR Management at Leroy Merlin, explained that: “Mobility is conceived as an element that must be integrated into our business model and, therefore, must be coherent. Which is why, we are working to integrate the concepts of security, mobility, digitalisation and car sharing into our mobility policy. In addition, at Leroy Merlin we work in a 360-degree corporate responsibility culture and the challenge of looking after the environment is vital.”

AlphaCity, the pioneering Corporate CarSharing service

AlphaCity is a service that Alphabet offers to a total of 21,000 users in 8 countries and this new agreement represents the largest fleet managed under this solution at international level. The AlphaCity service was a pioneer in Spain when it was launched in 2013. The business model is based on offering a company vehicle that can be shared by a company’s employees under specific criteria laid down by the company. The fleet is selected after an in-depth analysis of the specific habits and needs of each client. This provides an alternative to occasional mobility services, such as the professional use of the private vehicle (pay-per-kilometre) or the taxi, among others.

AlphaCity offers a very positive experience for clients, not only because of the reduction of costs in the company’s mobility, but also from the point of view of fleet management. Thanks to the easy access provided by the online platform when reserving vehicles and the possibility of accessing them in situ and comfortably with a card and without the need for keys, the users themselves who can manage the vehicles according to their needs, without the intervention of a fleet manager.

Furthermore, the system is capable of providing information about each use, identifying the location of all vehicles and indicating the start and end time of each reservation. The data provided by the system allows the client to optimise the fleet, by establishing and controlling policies and criteria for vehicle usage to maximise their efficiency and consequently reducing mobility costs for the company. It also facilitates expanding the use of the fleet, easily and quickly to a greater number of employees. Additionally, Alphabet, in line with its customer care priority, offers a customer service 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, to support users whenever they need it.
