Acquisition of ING Car Lease boosts growth and advances the company's position
MUNICH 03/05/2012 – The figures are in for Alphabet in 2011 and they speak for an outstanding year. The company showed strong growth thanks in great part to the acquisition of ING Car Lease in September, which means that Alphabet now ranks among the top five in the segment. By year's end, it was managing over 474,000 cars for more than 35,000 customers in 19 countries.
The acquisition was a strategic decision, according to Norbert van den Eijnden, one of the company's two CEOs. "It gave us a much stronger position on the market and will allow us to implement our visions for outstanding business mobility today and in the future."
Thanks to its new strength, Alphabet is better able to continue developing innovative leasing and business mobility solutions to respond to its customers’ needs. For instance, the company was able to expand its successful multi-make strategy due to a strong influx of other brands. The share of multi-make cars climbed from 47 percent in 2010, to 72 percent following the acquisition. This allows Alphabet to offer even greater flexibility when customers put together their ideal fleet.
Alphabet's immediate goal is to consolidate its leadership in business mobility services. Among its successful mobility innovations is the Corporate CarSharing solution AlphaCity. It has been rolled out in France, Germany and the UK, with The Netherlands next on the list.
Alphabet is a provider of business mobility in Europe. As such it helps companies to manage their corporate mobility in an economical and sustainable way. Founded in 1997 as a fleet management division of BMW Group, Alphabet has gathered extensive knowledge in fleet management and leasing. Based on this know-how the company creates innovative and flexible business mobility solutions that fit customers’ needs. One example is the corporate car sharing scheme AlphaCity.
