Fleet emissions are categorised into three scopes according to the GHG Protocol

Scope 1

Direct fleet emissions

Emissions from vehicles that your company owns or operates directly – for example, business miles using company-owned combustion vehicles.

Scope 2

Indirect emissions from energy procurement

Emissions from purchased electricity used to charge electric vehicles – externally generated, but consumed as part of your fleet operations.

Scope 3

Indirect emissions along the value chain

All other fleet-related emissions outside your direct control – for example, commuting using private vehicles, external logistics, or leased assets.
