Travelling abroad

What to do if your vehicle breaks down abroad?

Alphabet Assistance is our roadside assistance service that is automatically included in all lease contracts. Whether you are dealing with a mechanical fault or an accident, Alphabet Assistance will spring into action immediately to help you keep moving.

The Driver Info Card in your documentation pouch provides an overview of all the cover provided. Alphabet works together with VAB to help you as quickly as possible.

You can reach Alphabet Assistance 24/7 at +32 (0) 78 15 05 35

In France, you are required to use the orange roadside emergency telephones along the motorways.

International Driving Certificate

If you want to travel with your lease car to:

  • a country within the Schengen Area: You must be in possession of a valid insurance certificate on which these countries are mentioned.
  • a country outside of the Schengen Area (Andorra, Azerbaijan, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Morocco, Montenegro, Serbia, Tunisia, Macedonia (F.Y.R.O.M.), Turkey., …): Request a certificate via drivercenter@alphabet.be and a mandatory additional certificate via travel.mobeyond.eu (costs at your own expense). Without this document, Alphabet Belgium does not authorize you to enter these countries.

Attention! Travel by car to war zones or the following countries is forbidden: Albania, Israel, Iran, Moldova, Russia, Belarus, Georgia and Kosovo.

What about my passengers?

Your lease contract includes travel assistance to cover any problems that occur when using your car in Belgium or abroad. Problems unrelated to the use of your lease car are not covered.

However, our partner VAB enables you to get additional coverage to provide full protection for you and your passengers. For further information, please contact VAB directly.
