International Motor Insurance card (IMIC)
The international motor insurance card is a certificate which proves that your current car is covered by the insurance. In the Netherlands this is better known as the “groene kaart” or literally translated “green card”. This definition can be misleading since this certificate does not have to be green in most use cases, but rather can be shown in black and white or digitally.

- The insured liscence
- Insurance duration
- IMIC number
Next to the above information. The IMIC offers practical information with regards to road assistance. For example, the phone number you should call in case of car damage.
Exceptions
Not every country accepts a digital insurance card. If you are going to one of the highlighted countries or just traveling through, make sure you print your international motor insurance card on green paper.
