Alphabet named ‘Car Scheme Provider' of the Year
Business mobility specialist Alphabet has scooped the ‘Car Scheme Provider of the Year’ award at the annual Workplace Savings and Benefits Awards in London thanks to its Corporate CarSharing scheme, AlphaCity. Alphabet won the accolade as a result of the 40 per cent CO2 emission and fuel cost savings that AlphaCity has delivered for the Rugby Football Union (RFU), the national governing body for grassroots and elite rugby in England.
Thanks to the innovative Corporate CarSharing technology, multiple drivers from the RFU have access to the AlphaCity cars through an electronic card system. The keyless vehicles are available for use 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, by any of the registered card holders providing a ‘hassle free’ solution that’s available on demand. RFU employees simply check availability online, book the vehicle they require and are ready to drive away – without having to worry about availability, where to pick up the car or drop off the keys afterwards. AlphaCity drivers enjoy secure keyless access to BMW or MINI vehicles which offer class-leading emissions and are equipped with both Bluetooth and built-in satellite navigation as standard. Meanwhile AlphaCity enables fleet managers to save both time and money through reduced administration, improved reporting, greater transparency of vehicle usage as well as making billing easier to manage.
Nigel Trotman, strategic fleet consultant at Alphabet, says: “We’re delighted that the success of our AlphaCity scheme has been recognised by Workplace Savings and Benefits. Many organisations are facing major challenges with grey fleet cars, pool cars, daily rentals and taxis which are often a hidden cost the business. Which is why many organisations, such as the RFU, are finding that AlphaCity provides a flexible, efficient and intelligent solution.
“New approaches to business travel are the key to future corporate sustainability and business mobility; AlphaCity presents businesses with an opportunity to make a change for the better by cutting both costs and carbon emissions, as well as making things easier and more transparent for both fleet managers and drivers.”
AlphaCity is an exciting, simple and economical new way for businesses to provide their employees with cars for occasional journeys. Featuring an easy-to-use online availability and booking tool, sophisticated keyless access technology and the most efficient BMW and MINI vehicles, AlphaCity offers a cost-effective, outsourced alternative to grey fleet, pool cars, hire cars and taxis.
The process is simple: employees check availability and book a car for their required date and time period by using the dedicated website. The booking could be for as little as 30mins or for a day or two. Holding their membership card up to a reader on the windscreen the vehicle opens without a key. After following instructions via a touch screen in the car, confirming the condition and cleanliness of the vehicle and then entering a security PIN, they simply press the engine start/stop button and drive away. At the end of their booking, the car is returned to the dedicated AlphaCity parking bay. Using the touch screen the driver ends the reservation and locks the vehicle by holding the membership card up to the reader on the windscreen and the vehicle is ready for the next AlphaCity user.
