Alphabet launches “Charge Before You Buy” Electric Vehicle Charging Units in partnership with EDF Energy

Business Mobility specialist Alphabet has launched a temporary charging solution exclusively to its customers. “Charge before you buy” has been developed and supplied by EDF Energy. The short-term discovery solution enables customers to explore whether electric vehicles fit their fleet.
3 charge points are available for customers to lease between 1 and 3 months. Offering up to 32 Amp charging, the points give an “at the pump charging experience” while free-standing non-invasive pinnacles ensure that there is minimal disruption to the customers property.
Mark Constable, Senior Product Manager at EDF Energy says: “For a number of years now, EDF Energy has been working closely with the automotive industry to help bring developments in EV charging to the market. We are excited to bring our expertise to Alphabet’s AlphaElectric initiative. Fully or partially-electrified vehicle fleets mean a large decrease in carbon emissions which can have a real impact on a company’s reduction targets.”

The AlphaElectric product line-up demonstrates Alphabet’s serious intention to drive EV adoption through corporate and public sector channels.

Kit Wisdom, Head of Corporate Mobility, Alphabet said “One of the biggest concerns for fleets when it comes to introducing EVs is charging. Through our collaborative approach with EDF Energy, we are able to launch the next stage of our AlphaElectric product line-up. “Charge before you buy” is yet another step in the right direction in demonstrating that the use of Electric Vehicles in fleets is credible”

AlphaElectric is a key product in Alphabet’s portfolio of business mobility services. This comprises a comprehensive suite of funding solutions and fleet management services, including strategic consultancy, corporate and employee car schemes, commercial vehicles, Corporate CarSharing, risk management, vehicle rental, accident management, as well as service and maintenance options.
