Looking for danger.
Germans are more reckless than their reputation makes you believe. If it’s raining, they really tend to accelerate. Even though the risk of skidding is much higher on a wet road, they drive faster than on dry roads. But in a dangerous situation the driver can only respond quickly enough if he is driving at the right speed. If the road surface is not only wet but also in a bad condition, then the risk of accidents increases by more than 100 %. And if it rains at night, the risk of losing control over your vehicle is also twice as high!
So step off the gas if it’s raining, and if the car starts to swerve, instantly release the clutch, take your foot off the gas pedal and hold the steering wheel straight until your wheels are in proper contact with the road surface again.
