New Safety Guide for Drivers

Alphabet Releases Safety Guide – Kick-off For a Long-term Commitment to Driver Safety

1 December 2006

Innovative fleet supplier, Alphabet, is offering European employers its new safe driving guide for their fleet drivers.

MUNICH. 1 December 2006. – Alphabet, one of the fastest-growing international suppliers of fleet management, financing and leasing for all makes of vehicles, has produced a safety guide offering essential tips for business drivers. The Safety Guide comprises important safety issues and information about European roads and shows how to drive safely under special circumstances. It will be distributed to customers who can order additional copies for their employees, and also available to order at www.alphabet.com/safety.

According to Karl-Heinz Kral, Head of Alphabet, some companies are underestimating the risk to their employees of everyday driving: “As one of the leading providers of employee car ownership schemes and company cars, we want to do whatever we can to encourage safe driving habits. We hope to reach many more drivers with these reminders of common sense ways to stay out of danger. For Alphabet, this is a long-term commitment, not just a one-off initiative.”

Currently 82% of drivers consider themselves to be excellent drivers. But the reality shows a different view: There are more than 50,000 people involved in traffic accidents in Europe per year. The Safety Guide responds to this statistic by providing the most important rules of the road that should be uppermost in drivers’ minds in an entertaining and memorable story. The safety tips cover situations, such as driving in the rain, winter driving, fairplay on the motorway, night driving, and first aid. Also included is a table of emergency numbers, speed limits, fees for traffic violations, and other useful information organised by country.

More information and copies of the complete Safety Guide can be obtained from Alphabet by ordering online at www.alphabet.com/safety. The Safety Guide is available in Dutch, English, French, German, Italian, Spanish and Swedish.
