Alphabet introduces AlphaTact, the new consulting approach for Sustainable Fleet Management

AlphaTact focuses on costs and CO2 emissions 

MUNICH, GERMANY. 30. September 2008. – Alphabet, the international multi-make fleet service provider, has developed a specific consulting approach towards Sustainable Fleet Management. It is called AlphaTact and Alphabet has developed this approach in order to support its customers in a pragmatic and holistic way to achieve an optimisation of the car fleet in terms of costs, CO2 emissions and driving efficiency. AlphaTact is based on five steps. These steps cover the whole consultancy process ranging from the analysis of the current situation, to the definition of a masterplan and finally implementation and monitoring of the defined objectives. The AlphaTact consulting approach is an absolute tailor-made service for companies that need comprehensive advice with realistic and measureable objectives in order to develop a sustainable business case.

In a first step AlphaTact will be introduced into six markets in the following months. These markets are Belgium, France, the Netherlands, Spain and the United Kingdom. Germany will be integrated in 2009. More Alphabet countries will follow step by step.

“It is not enough to introduce hybrids into the fleet and then have a good conscience”, Karl-Heinz Kral, Head of Alphabet, states. “Instead, a huge number of factors need to be taken into account when developing a sustainable business case, such as fuel economy, driver safety and car policy consulting.” Kral points out: “The new consultancy approach is a tailor-made innovative solution unifying efficiency aspects with the environment and corporate social responsibility. A sustainable managed fleet will create positive effects in terms of total cost of ownership, profitability, productivity, employee attraction and corporate image and last but not least it will achieve lasting benefits for our environment.”

AlphaTact enables Alphabet to prepare a detailed analysis of the current status of the customer’s car fleet (costs and CO2 emissions) as well as to define the required measures to move towards a more sustainable fleet. Elements such as fuel economy, driver behaviour and car policy are taken into consideration. One important part within AlphaTact is the Alphabet Sustainability Index (ASTX) which allows Alphabet to assess the sustainability level of a fleet and it is used by Alphabet consultants to provide structured car policy advice. The ASTX not only rates vehicles in terms of their CO2 output in g/km but also takes into account driver motivation and how safe vehicles are. The ASTX is certified by DEKRA Certification GmbH.
